Nest #10, 2018-19

Banded Bird #4371, Male

We first saw this banded male on Oct 31, but the egg was not laid untill Nov 10. He has been in this nest site for a couple of years and this may be his previous mate. This pair has been named Penny and Popper by the students in Genny Kahlweiss' class Saint Columban ES in Garden Grove, Calif. They have also named the chicks Dawn and Dixie

First egg: Nov 10. 2018

First chick to hatch: Dec 19, 2018, Second chick to hatch Dec 20, 2018

Jan 14, 2019. Our last picture of this penguin family. Penny and Popper raised 2 healthy chicks, but I can no longer tell who is who in the crech. Check back with us in Nov 2019 to see if these penguin adults return to Cape Royds for another breeding season.

Dawn and Dixie are in the crech Dawn and Dixie are in the crech I think our chicks are these two in front. There are many chicks around. I think ours are in the front and on the left. but I am not sure. This will be the last picture of this penguin family. The 2 chicks are well fed and we wish them a long and healthy penguin life.
